The GridION system
Oxford Nanopore is developing the GridION system, a platform technology that is modular and adaptable for the analysis of DNA, proteins, small molecules and other analytes.

The technology platform includes the following elements:
1. Nanopores, that may be adapted for the sensing of a variety of analytes including DNA, proteins and small molecules. More information.
2. A proprietary array chip for scaling of nanopore sensing and ASIC for signal processing. These are contained in a single-use disposable cartridge, compatible with different types of nanopore for different types of sensing. This cartridge is used with a GridION node.
3. A scalable instrumentation system, GridION. The individual unit, a node, is a network device with high-performance embedded computing for real-time data analysis. This may be used as a single node for a desktop instrument or scaled for higher-power analyses.  Multiple nodes can cross-communicate and may be clustered for higher-throughput analyses.
4. Data analysis and bioinformatics solutions to enable simple data analysis in real time. The Company has an agreement with Accelrys for its Pipeline Pilot NGS Collection.
